Anytime Fitness held its grand opening in Hickory Hills on Saturday, Sept. 26, at its location inside Hills Creek Shopping Center, 8701 W. 95th St. Co-owners Clement and Marilyn Jones were joined by members of the Hickory Hills City Council and the Hills Chamber of Commerce for the ribbon cutting. The gym had been operating on a soft-opening basis for roughly two months before the official celebration, giving the Joneses time to fine-tune operations before inviting the broader community in.
Clement and Marilyn Jones are a husband-and-wife team originally from Chicago's West Side who have lived in Lynnwood for years. Both have worked in the fitness industry, though this is their first joint full-time venture. Clement focuses on equipment and programming, while Marilyn handles marketing, business operations, and member experience. Together they oversee a facility that Marilyn describes as deliberately different from a traditional gym.
"We would like to get established here in Hickory Hills. But we would like to open more facilities in the future. But I don't want to get ahead of myself. We want to lay the groundwork here first. We like it here." — Marilyn Jones, Co-owner, Anytime Fitness Hickory Hills
The facility is set up for a full training experience, with free weights, resistance machines, and complimentary consultations with a personal trainer. Members can book individual sessions or commit to monthly training plans. Recovery options at the location include:
Marilyn emphasized that security and cleanliness are non-negotiable priorities. Cameras cover the full facility except restrooms and showers, and cleaning runs throughout the day. Members also receive guidance on nutrition and dietary habits alongside their training plans.
Members receive a key card that lets them enter the facility any time, day or night, regardless of staffed hours. That around-the-clock access is a core part of the Anytime Fitness model and a key draw for people whose schedules don't fit standard gym windows. Staffed hours are Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Sunday by appointment.
The ribbon cutting drew aldermen Brian Waight, Deb Ferrero, Henry Kman, and Scott Zimmerman, along with City Clerk Joseph Stachnik. The Hills Chamber of Commerce helped organize the event. Outside in the parking lot, the Joneses hosted tacos, a bounce house for kids, and prizes, turning the morning into a neighborhood gathering as much as a business launch.
Hickory Hills gains a locally owned fitness option with staffed support, personalized training, and 24-hour access, a combination that larger chain clubs in the area don't always offer together. Residents who have been driving further out for a gym now have a full-service facility within the suburb. The Joneses have said their goal is to become a fixture in the community before expanding to future locations.
Anytime Fitness Hickory Hills is at 8701 W. 95th St. inside Hills Creek Shopping Center. Prospective members can stop in during staffed hours or reach out to the club directly to learn about membership options and training plans.
