LA Fitness has opened its 200th Pilates by LA Fitness studio, hitting the milestone on September 29, 2026. The studios sit inside existing LA Fitness clubs and are spread across 16 US states and Canada. The chain reached 200 locations in approximately two and a half years from launch, a pace that reflects consistent member demand for Reformer Pilates programming at a gym price point.
Pilates by LA Fitness is a boutique Reformer Pilates concept built into full-size LA Fitness clubs rather than operating as a standalone studio. Classes run on Balanced Body Reformers and blend contemporary Pilates principles with functional and athletic movement. The programming covers a broad range of fitness levels, with an emphasis on strength, mobility, balance and flexibility. Because the studios share a building with a full gym, members can pair Reformer sessions with cardio, weightlifting or group fitness classes in a single visit.
"We've created a lot of excitement in our clubs by adding 200 Pilates by LA Fitness studios. It's been rewarding to see the incredible response from our members." — Jill Hill, President of Club Operations, Fitness International
Pilates by LA Fitness studios are accessible to LA Fitness members as part of the club experience, avoiding the separate membership fee that standalone boutique studios require. Classes are taught on Balanced Body Reformers and are designed to be approachable for first-timers while still challenging for experienced practitioners. Members also keep full access to the wider club, so the Pilates studio functions as an add-on to an existing gym routine rather than a replacement for it.
Reformer Pilates has grown steadily in the US over the past several years, but standalone boutique studios often carry per-class or premium monthly pricing that excludes a portion of the market. By hosting the studios inside LA Fitness clubs, Fitness International lowers the access barrier while making use of existing real estate. The 200-studio count across 16 states suggests the format has translated across different markets and club sizes rather than being limited to high-income urban locations.
Fitness International operates over 600 LA Fitness locations across 25 US states and Canada. The rollout of Pilates by LA Fitness sits inside a wider strategy of adding in-club boutique programming to modernize the portfolio. At 200 studios in two and a half years, the concept has been added to roughly one in three clubs, leaving meaningful room to continue expanding through the existing location base before requiring any new real estate.
If your local LA Fitness doesn't already have a Pilates by LA Fitness studio, there's a reasonable chance one is on the way. The current rollout covers 200 clubs, and Fitness International has indicated the expansion is continuing. Members interested in Reformer Pilates can check the LA Fitness app or their club's group fitness schedule to see whether the studio is available at their location.
Information on Pilates by LA Fitness class schedules and studio locations is available through the LA Fitness mobile app and the LA Fitness website. The chain's social channels on Facebook and Instagram also carry updates as new studios open.
