Life Time announced on October 6, 2026 that it plans to open an athletic club at Commonwealth Pier, 200 Seaport Boulevard, in Boston's Seaport district. The club, listed on Life Time's site as "Seaport (Arriving 2027)", covers about 45,000 square feet and is targeting a late 2027 opening. No exact date has been announced, but a waitlist is already live.
Life Time is a premium athletic club chain that trades on the NYSE under the ticker LTH. The brand entered Greater Boston in 2015 with its Westwood location and has since added clubs in Burlington, Chestnut Hill, Framingham, Medford, Peabody and at The Prudential Center, which opened in October 2025. The Seaport club will be its eighth in the area and its first waterfront property across the entire Life Time portfolio.
"Life Time announces plans for new urban athletic club with panoramic harbor views at Boston's Commonwealth Pier," Life Time, press release, PRNewswire, Oct. 6, 2026.
The Seaport club is designed around the pier building's architecture, with floor-to-ceiling glass and 40-foot ceilings looking out over Boston Harbor. Per the Life Time press release and the club's own page, planned offerings include:
One thing you won't find here: a swimming pool. The Boston Globe confirmed the Seaport location will not include one.
Commonwealth Pier, the historic 1913 pier structure later known as the Seaport World Trade Center, was redeveloped by Pembroke. Life Time's club will sit on the third floor, with additional space on the first and second floors and a street entrance off Seaport Boulevard, according to the Boston Globe. Pembroke also plans to offer free public fitness programming in partnership with Life Time.
Life Time's head of real estate, Parham Javaheri, told the Boston Globe he expects Boston memberships to be priced at around $369 per month. That gets you access to nearly 200 Life Time clubs across the country, not just the Seaport location. Pricing hasn't been formally confirmed for this specific club yet.
The Seaport opening continues a decade-long push into the Boston market. Life Time now has, or has announced, clubs in Westwood, Burlington, Chestnut Hill, Framingham, Medford, Peabody, The Prudential Center and Seaport. The Prudential Center location opened in October 2025, making Seaport the second Boston-area club announced or opened within roughly a year.
Life Time expects to employ about 150 people at the Seaport club once it opens. The club occupies space inside a building redeveloped by Pembroke, and the two organizations plan to collaborate on free public fitness programming tied to the pier.
The Seaport club is open for waitlist sign-ups on Life Time's website at the location page for "Seaport (Arriving 2027)". For anyone in the Seaport area who wants to be among the first through the door, that's the best way to keep tabs on an opening date as 2027 approaches.
