Planet Fitness has signed a 16,000-square-foot lease at Twin City Shopping Center, 2-36 Garfield Ave, in Jersey City's Greenville neighborhood. Levin Management Corp., the center's leasing and managing agent, announced the deal on October 13, 2026. No opening date has been set, and the location does not yet appear on planetfitness.com.
Planet Fitness is one of the largest gym chains in the United States, with locations in all 50 states. The brand is built around its "Judgement Free Zone" positioning, keeping prices low and the atmosphere accessible for first-time gym-goers and casual members. Most clubs run two membership tiers: a Classic plan tied to a home club, and the PF Black Card, which adds guest privileges, access to any location, and Black Card Spa amenities including HydroMassage, massage chairs, tanning, and Total Body Enhancement red-light booths.
Based on Planet Fitness's standard buildout for newer clubs, members at this location can expect:

The Greenville location sits on the Jersey City–Bayonne border near NJ Turnpike Exit 14A. The nearest Planet Fitness is about a mile north at Stadium Plaza on Route 440, with Bayonne (175 Avenue A) and Hoboken (605 Washington St) also in range but a meaningful distance away for Greenville residents. This signing addresses a clear coverage gap for south Jersey City, a dense residential area that has lacked a nearby budget gym option.
Planet Fitness offers Classic memberships starting around $10–$15 per month and PF Black Card memberships at around $25 per month, though exact pricing and any presale offers for this location have not been announced. Check planetfitness.com for a presale page once the club is listed.
Planet Fitness takes unit 7A, a space previously occupied by a fitness tenant at the 95,299-square-foot, grocery-anchored center. E.J. Moawad of Levin Management Corp. represented the landlord; Jack Chera of RIPCO Real Estate represented Planet Fitness. The signing brings Twin City Shopping Center to 100% occupancy. Other recent additions to the center include PB Club, Jersey City's first indoor pickleball-only facility, and Catch Air, a kids' play venue. The property draws more than 2.8 million annual visits and sees over 19,000 vehicles per day.
For residents in Greenville and the southern end of Jersey City, this is a straightforward convenience win. A Planet Fitness walking distance from the Garfield Avenue corridor is meaningfully closer than the existing Route 440 location for a large stretch of the neighborhood. The center's Tesla EV chargers and dense tenant mix, including a grocery anchor, also make it an easy errand-run pairing.
An opening date has not been set. Once Planet Fitness lists the location on its site, a presale page will follow shortly after. Watch planetfitness.com and check back on GymStracker for updates as the opening approaches.
